Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board conferred with ‘Jal Yodha Samman’ for its water administration

Katra (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 2 (ANI): Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) on Thursday was conferred with the celebrated ‘Jal Yodha Samman’ in recognition of its exemplary initiatives in water administration and conservation.

The award was offered at Vishalakshi Mantap throughout a National Level Programme organised by the Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru within the presence of famend religious chief Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and different dignitaries.

Supported by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the award recognises people and organisations making vital contributions to water conservation and the imaginative and prescient of ‘Atmanirbhar Jal Bharat’. Guided by its mission ‘From Shraddha to Seva – Save Water, Seek the Blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji,’ the Board has carried out a complete, multi-pronged technique.Key initiatives embody rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge, wastewater remedy and reuse, adoption of water-use effectivity measures and good water administration techniques, set up of water ATMs, improvement of a high-tech nursery and large-scale afforestation coupled with ecosystem restoration. In addition, sustained and coordinated efforts have been undertaken by the Shrine Board for river conservation, strengthening sanitation measures and endeavor plantation drives involving over 1.5 lakh saplings yearly in forest areas for enhancing water retention capability and stopping soil erosion.Notably, the Shrine Board has been constantly recognised through the years for its initiatives throughout numerous sectors and has achieved a outstanding hat-trick by securing the First Prize on the ‘National Water Awards’ for 3 consecutive years, conferred by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
