The Japan Coast Guard investigated the seabed of Toyama Bay, close to the epicenter of the Noto Peninsula earthquake, and located that a part of the slope had collapsed to a depth of 40 meters.
A tsunami hit Toyama City simply three minutes after the earthquake occurred, and specialists say, “This is a vital discovering that confirms that the tsunami was attributable to a landslide on the ocean flooring.”
