Paris Olympics workplaces raided in corruption probe

The headquarters of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games had been searched Tuesday as a part of an investigation into corruption.

The BBC reported that authorities had been tasked with investigating allegations of favoritism and misuse of public cash in reference to the awarding of development contracts for subsequent summer time’s video games.

A spokesperson for the Paris organizing committee mentioned the group was “cooperating fully with the investigators” regarding the raid on the headquarters in suburban Saint-Denis, per BBC.

Another goal of Tuesday’s raid was the workplaces of Solideo, which is the group that’s overseeing development tasks for the Olympics, BBC reported.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to run from July 26 to Aug. 11, 2024.

Allegations of corruption additionally had been investigated in reference to the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Games.
