NEW YORK — New yr, new child to save lots of.
Just weeks after heroically saving a neighbor’s choking 1-year-old lady, an NYPD officer was at it once more, saving the lifetime of a 2-year-old boy who had stopped inhaling his Bronx dwelling.

After just a few well-timed backslaps, Officer Freddie Cerpa, who had responded to a different officer’s misery name about an unresponsive baby, had the silent toddler crying very quickly.
When Cerpa arrived on the Bronx dwelling at Watson and Manor Aves. on Jan. 16, he discovered Officer Megan Ficken working arduous to get the little boy respiration once more.
“I kind of used my past experience from a month ago to try to give her an idea of what I did last time,” Cerpa instructed reporters Thursday. “Like checking the airways, doing the backslaps. Once we did that, we were able to work together as a team, and we were able to save the child.”
Paramedics quickly arrived and rushed the boy to Jacobi Medical Center.
Last month, the backslapping beat cop was off obligation at his dwelling in Elmont, in Nassau County, when a frantic neighbor ran as much as his porch together with her choking daughter.
Cerpa calmly turned the 1-year-old lady round and had her respiration once more after just a few slaps on her again.
Both rescues have been caught on digicam. The rescue outdoors Cerpa’s dwelling was captured on surveillance video.
Cerpa and Ficken have been recorded on one other officer’s physique digicam.
