TOKYO, May 04 (News On Japan) –
Nippon Steel has introduced a postponement of its acquisition timeline for main American metal producer U.S. Steel, from the top of September to the top of December.
The delay is because of the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust overview, which has requested further documentation. With the upcoming November U.S. presidential election seemingly contested between President Biden and former President Trump, each of whom have expressed opposition to the acquisition, the completion of the acquisition is now anticipated to happen after the election.
