NEC Secures Contract to Equip Australian Navy Frigates – Japan Industry News

NEC Corporation has signed a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia to produce 9 kinds of protection gear for the Royal Australian Navy’s SEA3000 frigate procurement program. The preliminary part contains outfitting three ships, a part of a broader plan to amass 11 vessels.

The settlement includes NEC offering underwater-related gear, reminiscent of floor ship sonars, that are essential for enhancing the operational capabilities and reliability of naval vessels. Additionally, NEC will provide communications and navigation-related gear, together with the UNICORN built-in communications antenna.

NEC has a historical past of supplying sonar methods, data and communication methods, and navigation methods to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Building on this expertise, NEC will equip the frigates that Australia is procuring from Japan.
