METI To Provide 536 Billion Yen To Micron For Semiconductor Expansion

HIROSHIMA, Sep 14 (News On Japan) –
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) introduced it’s going to present as much as 536 billion yen in subsidies to help mass manufacturing of next-generation semiconductor reminiscence by Micron Technology, a serious U.S. chipmaker, at its plant in Hiroshima.

Micron plans to speculate 1.5 trillion yen at its Higashihiroshima facility to fabricate high-speed, large-capacity reminiscence, with industrial rollout scheduled to start in 2028. METI will cowl one-third of the overall capital funding, aiming to leverage the manufacturing for Japan’s improvement of generative AI and autonomous driving applied sciences.
