HANOI, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — Landslides and flooding triggered by extended heavy rains have killed a complete of eight individuals and injured three others within the northern area of Vietnam from Aug. 2 to six, based on Vietnam’s National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on Monday.
Of the victims, 4 are in Lai Chau, two in Yen Bai, one in Thai Nguyen and one in Son La province, mentioned the committee, including that the three accidents are reported in Lai Chau.
The disasters destroyed 24 homes and broken 128 others in addition to 30 hectares of rice and different crops, based on the committee.
Since Aug. 4, the northern area has recorded downpours with rainfalls of 100 to 200 mm, even practically 400 mm in some areas, inflicting flooding on small rivers and comes, flash floods, and landslides, native newspaper Vietnam News reported.
After the reviews of the lack of human life and property, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a dispatch demanding associated authorities ramp up response to the disasters within the northern space.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting mentioned that downpours will proceed on this area till Tuesday, with rainfalls of fifty to 120 mm, even over 180 mm, posing very excessive dangers of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, the newspaper report mentioned.
