According to the Karatsu Coast Guard, shortly after 8 a.m. on the twelfth, Kyushu Yusen’s high-speed ship Venus 2, which was heading from Izuhara Port in Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture, to Ashibe Port in Iki City, crashed east of Ashibe Town, Iki City. The engine stopped working offshore, and the ship was unable to navigate below its personal energy.
There have been 47 passengers and 5 crew members on board, all of whom have been unhurt and sporting life jackets.
The Japan Coast Guard is sending patrol boats and plane to the scene.
