Japan's Nobel-winning novelist Kenzaburo Oe dies at 88

TOKYO, March 13 (Xinhua) — Japanese writer and Nobel Prize laureate Kenzaburo Oe has died on the age of 88, native media reported on Monday.

According to writer Kodansha Ltd., Oe died of outdated age within the early hours of March 3.

Born in Japan’s Ehime prefecture in 1935, Oe graduated from the French literature division of the University of Tokyo.

He was the writer of a number of works together with “The Catch”, “A Personal Matter” and “The Silent Cry”, and received the 1994 Nobel Prize in Literature.

In his 70s, Oe mentioned he supposed to proceed dwelling as a novelist till he died and that the goal of his life’s “late work is to write grotesque novels that defy the present time and society,” Kyodo News reported.
