Japan Coast Guard airplane not given clearance to enter runway

TOKYO, Jan 04 (News On Japan) –
Communication information with air site visitors controllers in relation to the Haneda Airport collision have been launched, revealing that the Coast Guard’s plane didn’t have permission to enter the runway.

While air site visitors controllers had cleared the Japan Airlines passenger airplane to land with “no issues,” directions got to the Coast Guard’s plane to proceed to a holding place wanting the runway. There was no indication that permission to enter the runway was given.

The captain of the Coast Guard plane acknowledged after the accident that that they had “entered the runway after obtaining permission.”

There are discrepancies between the communication information and the captain’s assertion, and the Transport Safety Board is investigating, together with recovering the voice recorder.
