SAPPORO, Feb 20 (News On Japan) –
Hokkaido has drafted a proposal for an “accommodation tax” to be levied on friends staying at motels and inns, with prices starting from 100 to 500 yen relying on the lodging fee.
Sapporo City can also be contemplating a plan to tax lodging charges, with a 200-yen tax for charges below 50,000 yen. If each taxes are formally carried out, an individual staying in a resort in Sapporo City for lower than 20,000 yen per evening would pay a complete lodging tax of 300 yen.
