NARA, Sep 11 (News On Japan) –
A pillar at Kasuga Taisha, a UNESCO World Heritage web site in Nara, was discovered defaced with blue Chinese characters that learn ‘I love you forever,’ alongside what look like a person’s and a lady’s names.
A shrine worker, alerted by a customer on the morning of September ninth, confirmed graffiti on a pillar within the east hall of the principle sanctuary, which is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The writing, in Chinese characters, measured roughly 7 centimeters extensive and 28 centimeters tall.
A subsequent test positioned comparable markings at a distant worship web site northeast of the principle corridor. There, Chinese numerals studying ‘2022’ have been written, with extra characters—believed to be private names—positioned round them.
Kasuga Taisha reported a separate incident three years in the past during which purple ink-like stains have been discovered on stone lanterns throughout the grounds.
Police are investigating the newest vandalism on suspicion of violating the Cultural Properties Protection Law.
