Exhibition options Heatherwick structure, design in Tokyo

TOKYO, March 17 (Xinhua) — An architectural showcase of the progressive designs and tasks of Heatherwick Studio kicked off on Friday in Tokyo, that includes 28 key tasks by Heatherwick, together with the British pavilion of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The exhibition, named “Heatherwick Studio: Building Soulfulness,” gives perception into the concepts and experiments that go into realizing the works of Thomas Heatherwick, founding father of the London-based structure agency Heatherwick Studio.

As a part of the celebration of expertise, the Heatherwick exhibition showcases fashions and materials samples in addition to mock-ups of the studio’s designs on the Mori Art Museum, together with a light-up mannequin of the UK pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo and the studio’s increasing desk which transforms from a clean circle to a 4-meter-long ellipsis.

The present, the studio’s first solo exhibition in Japan, is split into six sections exploring the thought of soulfulness, which permeates the studio’s design philosophy, starting from “Coming Together” and “Connecting with Everyone” to “Experiencing Sculptural Space” and “Feeling Nature in Urban Space.”
