Ahead of Mount Fuji’s July climbing season, two newly put in evacuation shelters have been unveiled on the Yoshida descent path to strengthen security measures towards eruptions, rockfalls and extreme climate.
Yamanashi prefecture put in the shelters close to the seventh and eighth stations on the Yoshida descent route and opened them to the media on June 22.
Each shelter can accommodate about 135 individuals.
Yamanashi plans to put in 13 shelters on Mount Fuji by 2031.
The prefecture stated the shelters can be utilized not solely within the occasion of an eruption or rockfall, but in addition as evacuation websites throughout heavy rain and lightning, and is urging climbers to make use of them when mandatory.
