Court orders Japan govt. to acknowledge lesbian Uganda refugee fleeing persecution

A district courtroom in Osaka, western Japan, has ordered the central authorities to grant refugee standing to a Ugandan girl who says she fled to Japan as she was persecuted for being gay.

The girl in her 30s, who at the moment lives within the Kansai area, says she was arrested and overwhelmed in Uganda for being a lesbian and suffered critical accidents. She fled to Japan three years in the past.

Upon getting into Japan, she was not acknowledged as a refugee and was ordered to go away the nation. She filed a lawsuit looking for refugee standing from the federal government.

The authorities argued that studies of homosexuals being detained or punished in Uganda lack credibility.

It additionally mentioned the lady was not more likely to be penalized for being gay, so she couldn’t be acknowledged as a refugee.
