Chinese yuan weakens in October

BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese yuan weakened towards a basket of currencies in October, in line with the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS).

At the top of final month, the CFETS yuan change price composite index, which measures the yuan’s energy relative to a basket of currencies, edged down 0.24 p.c from the top of September to 99.31, in line with the system.

The index compares the yuan with the worth of 24 currencies, together with U.S. dollar, euro and Japanese yen.

As of the top of October, the index measuring the yuan towards the Bank for International Settlements foreign money basket dipped 0.08 p.c from the top of September to 104.06.

The index measuring the yuan towards the Special Drawing Rights basket dropped 0.28 p.c from the earlier month to 94.
