Brunei’s commerce steadiness drops 42.2 pct in February

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 23 (Xinhua) — Brunei recorded a 374.2 million Brunei dollar (about 278 million U.S. dollar) commerce steadiness for February, a 42.2 p.c 12 months on 12 months lower as a result of a drop in export and an increase in import worth.

The newest International Merchandise Trade Statistics launched on Tuesday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics below the Ministry of Finance and Economy confirmed that Brunei’s exports in February decreased by 12.2 p.c 12 months on 12 months to 1,265.8 million Brunei {dollars}, largely as a result of a drop in mineral fuels exports.

Imports elevated from 794.9 million Brunei {dollars} in February 2022 to 891.6 million Brunei {dollars}, primarily as a result of an increase within the import of mineral fuels.

The highest share of exports in February went to Japan with 29.1 p.c, adopted by Australia with 19.2 p.c, Singapore with 13.4 p.c and China with 11.6 p.c.

The greatest import associate was the United Arab Emirates, adopted by Malaysia and China, with mineral fuels being the biggest import merchandise. (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.74 U.S. dollar)
