Historic floats and a shrine mikoshi paraded by means of Tokyo’s Akasaka district because the centuries-old Akasaka Hikawa Festival reached its climax with its conventional Shinkosai procession.
The pageant, which dates again to the Edo interval, entered its third day with contributors wearing kimono and happi coats main the procession by means of the streets.
Two invaluable Hikawa floats handed down because the Edo interval joined the parade, together with a shrine mikoshi that marks 10 years since its revival, as giant crowds gathered alongside the route to observe.
Participants carrying the mikoshi described the load and significance of collaborating within the procession. “It’s really heavy,” one stated. Another stated, “I was able to carry the shrine mikoshi, which is the heaviest one, and I’m overwhelmed with emotion.”
Spectators had been additionally impressed by the dimensions of the procession. “The mikoshi was more powerful and really worth seeing,” one spectator stated. Another stated, “I was surprised by how big the mikoshi was.”
The Akasaka Hikawa Festival will conclude with its annual grand pageant on September 15.
