NARA, Jan 28 (News On Japan) –
The conventional New Year occasion of Wakakusa Yamayaki was held Saturday night in Nara, to a crowd of 190,000 spectators.
At 6 PM, 600 fireworks had been launched as a sign for native fireplace brigade members to set dry grass on fireplace with torches, engulfing the mountain slopes in brilliant flames.
The origins of this annual January occasion are different. One idea is that it started to make clear the boundary traces between the lands of Kofukuji and Todaiji temples. Another suggests it began to pacify the spirits within the historic tombs on the mountain prime.
This 12 months, roughly 190,000 spectators gathered to witness the grand competition of flames, captivated and seemingly forgetting the chilly.
