National Defense College Graduation Ceremony “Rejected Officers” Approved to Participate Based on Changes in Public Awareness | NHK

The Ministry of Defense introduced on the commencement ceremony of the National Defense Academy on the twenty sixth of this month that it’ll permit college students who’ve declined to turn out to be SDF personnel, who haven’t been allowed to take part since 2013, to take part. It explains that it’s a response primarily based on modifications in public consciousness.

At a press convention, Ministry of Defense spokesperson Kenji Aoki revealed that the commencement ceremony to be held on the twenty sixth of this month will permit those that have declined to take part.

He added, “People’s attitudes toward ‘declined officials’ vary, and the public’s awareness of occupations is also changing. Based on the knowledge, experience, and personal connections I gained at the National Defense Academy, I will be able to contribute to the security of our country in various situations in the future. We decided to let them participate because we believe that they can be human resources who can contribute to insurance.”
