OSAKA –
A 76-year-old man was arrested on September 27 on suspicion of arson after a hearth destroyed roughly 560 sq. meters of a picket house constructing in Osaka’s Higashiyodogawa Ward, prompting the dispatch of 52 hearth engines and taking round 9 hours to extinguish.
The suspect, an unemployed resident of Higashiyodogawa Ward, is accused of intentionally beginning a hearth by an unspecified methodology in his second-floor house in Awaji 3-chome on September 26, inflicting in depth harm to the two-story picket constructing.
A close-by resident contacted the hearth division at round 11 p.m. on September 26, reporting smoke and a burning odor. Firefighters dispatched 52 hearth engines to the scene and introduced the blaze below management roughly 9 hours later, on the morning of September 27.
The hearth burned roughly 560 sq. meters of the house constructing. No accidents had been reported.
The suspect, who lived alone in a second-floor house, couldn’t be contacted following the hearth, and his whereabouts had been initially unknown.
He subsequently turned himself in at a police field in entrance of Awaji Station at 4:41 a.m. on September 27.
Police arrested him at Higashiyodogawa Police Station at 11:53 a.m. the identical day on suspicion of setting hearth to an inhabited constructing.
During questioning, the person admitted to beginning the blaze, telling investigators, “There is no doubt that I set fire to a blanket in my home.”
