Nagoya [Japan], September 20 (ANI): Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya joined members of the Indian diaspora in Japan for a particular ‘Sundays on Cycle’ occasion organised to cheer for the Indian contingent for the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya.
While talking to ANI, Mandaviya praised the Indian diaspora in Japan for organising the “Sundays on Cycle” occasion to cheer and encourage Indian athletes competing on the Asian Games in Nagoya, expressing confidence that the athletes will carry out strongly and produce glory and satisfaction to the nation.
‘The Asian Games are going down in Nagoya, Japan, and Indian athletes are taking part in them. To encourage and enhance their morale, the Indian diaspora organised a biking occasion on Sunday to cheer for India. I’m assured that our athletes will carry out nicely and produce glory to the nation,’ Mandaviya mentioned.Â
The twentieth Asian Games have been formally opened with a ceremony on the Paloma Mizuho Stadium right here on Saturday, with double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and kabaddi star Pawan Sehrawat main the Indian contingent as flagbearers.
India is represented by a 501-athlete contingent competing throughout 36 sports activities on the continental multi-sport occasion, which runs from September 19 to October 4.
Bhaker, who received two bronze medals on the Paris 2024 Olympics, shared the flag-bearing honour with Sehrawat, a member of India’s gold-medal-winning males’s kabaddi group on the earlier Asian Games.
Sehrawat was named the male flagbearer instead of shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor resulting from technical points.
The opening ceremony marked the formal begin of the Games, bringing collectively athletes from 45 nations and areas who will compete throughout 43 sports activities and 469 medal occasions. (ANI)Â
