TOKYO –
Consumer costs in central Tokyo rose 1.8% in August from a 12 months earlier, with the tempo of inflation accelerating for a 3rd consecutive month as increased meals costs continued to place upward stress on family prices.
The core client value index for Tokyo’s 23 wards, which excludes unstable recent meals costs, stood at 102.3, in response to information launched by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
The year-on-year improve accelerated from 1.7% in July, marking the third straight month through which the inflation fee expanded.
Higher costs for meals excluding recent merchandise had been a significant component behind the rise, with notably robust positive aspects recorded for boxed meals and domestically produced beef.
