Gujarat’s Laxmivas village wins nationwide award for exemplary water administration beneath Jal Jeevan Mission

Morbi (Gujarat) [India], July 10 (ANI): Laxmivas village in Gujarat’s Morbi district has been awarded nationwide recognition for its excellent water administration and consuming water distribution system, rising as a mannequin of sustainable rural water governance beneath the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Once grappling with water shortage and the dearth of potable groundwater, the village has remodeled its consuming water infrastructure by a Narmada-based piped water provide community. Today, all 280 households within the village obtain secure and satisfactory consuming water.

Residents say the transformation has considerably improved their high quality of life.

‘Our village is positioned round seven kilometres away from the lake, and the borewell water is just not appropriate for consuming. Now, each family receives secure consuming water by the federal government’s water provide system. We get satisfactory consuming water and all the mandatory amenities have been offered,’ stated resident Shobhana Kavar.

Laxmivas was honoured on the Jal Mahotsav held in New Delhi for its efficient implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and community-led water administration practices.

Another resident, Pranjivanbhai Kavar, recalled the change introduced by the scheme.

‘Earlier, there was no correct consuming water facility. Now, we obtain consuming water by the Narmada Canal-based water provide scheme, which has proved to be very helpful for us,’ he stated.

Officials of the Water and Sanitation Management Organisation (WASMO) stated the achievement displays coordinated efforts by the Central and Gujarat governments together with lively participation from villagers.

With the lively participation of WASMO, the Government of Gujarat and in coordination with the Government of India, we’re implementing this programme successfully.
