Animal Cafe Customer Busted for Feeding Chocolate to Marmot

OSAKA, May 19 (News On Japan) –
A person in his 30s was referred to prosecutors after allegedly feeding a chocolate snack to a marmot at an animal cafe in Osaka Prefecture, regardless of the chance that the deal with might trigger poisoning and even dying within the squirrel-family animal.

The man, an organization worker from Minoh in Osaka Prefecture, was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Animal Protection Law.

According to investigators, the person allegedly gave the chocolate snack to a marmot in January at a restaurant in Moriguchi the place guests can observe the animals, although chocolate is taken into account harmful for marmots and may doubtlessly trigger deadly poisoning signs.

The cafe mentioned the marmot instantly spat out the snack and was not harmed.
