A ‘heartbroken’ Xavi Simons will miss this summer season’s FIFA World Cup for the Netherlands after tearing his proper ACL in English Premier League motion on Saturday.
The 23-year-old midfielder was carried off on a stretcher following a collision within the 58th minute of Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Simons posted on Instagram late Sunday that he’ll miss the final 4 matches of the common season and the World Cup in North America.
‘They say life will be merciless and right this moment it feels that approach,’ he stated. ‘My season has come to an abrupt finish and I’m simply making an attempt to course of it. Honestly, I’m heartbroken. None of it is smart. All I’ve needed to do is combat for my workforce and now the power to do this has been snatched away from me, together with the World Cup.’
Simons has scored six targets in 34 appearances with the Netherlands’ nationwide workforce. He made his debut with the squad on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Netherlands, No. 7 within the FIFA world rankings, are in Group F for the World Cup with Japan, Sweden and Tunisia. The Dutch start play on June 14 towards Japan in Arlington, Texas.
