A Vietnamese-themed ladies’ bar in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward has been raided by police for working and not using a license and using overseas college students on research visas to entertain clients.
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested Nguyen Lam, the 30-year-old proprietor of the bar named “LAM,” together with 24-year-old worker Dinh Hien and one different particular person. The three had been taken into custody on suspicion of conducting buyer leisure providers with out the required allow on June 4th.
According to investigators, the institution had employed a number of girls who had entered Japan on pupil visas, which prohibit work involving buyer leisure.
Footage taken contained in the bar exhibits Dinh carrying a standard Vietnamese “ao dai” costume whereas attending to clients.
Dinh reportedly informed investigators, “I came to Japan to study. (When asked by a reporter if she attended a language school, she replied,) Yes, now I’m enrolled in a vocational school.”
All three people have admitted to the fees. Dinh mentioned she utilized for the job after seeing a posting on social media, including, “My teacher told me that working at a girls’ bar was not allowed.”
The police have indicated they’ll step up enforcement in opposition to companies that function illegally by using people in violation of visa rules.
