Phil Lesh, founding member of Grateful Dead and influential bassist, dies at 84

Phil Lesh, a classically educated violinist and jazz trumpeter who discovered his true calling reinventing the function of rock bass guitar as a founding member of the Grateful Dead, died Friday at age 84.
