Passenger Plane Clips Wing of Parked Aircraft at Hokkaido’s New Chitose Airport

SAPPORO, Jan 17 (News On Japan) –
The wing of a passenger plane being towed at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido clipped one other parked aircraft at round 5:30 PM on Tuesday, with no stories of accidents among the many 289 passengers.

It is believed that the left principal wing of a Korean Air aircraft, which was shifting backward, struck the vertical stabilizer of a parked Cathay Pacific plane.

The Korean Air flight sure for Seoul (Flight 766) collided with Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong-bound Flight 583 on the worldwide terminal’s parking space.

There had been no accidents to the 289 passengers and crew on the Korean Air plane, and there have been no passengers on the Cathay Pacific plane. No fires or gasoline leaks had been reported.

The incident occurred whereas the Korean Air aircraft was being moved, hooked up to a towing car. Korean Air said their perception that the towing car, operated by a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, slipped on the snow, resulting in the contact.
