Car unearthed in Nara landslide linked to lacking driver

NARA, Dec 26 (News On Japan) –
Rescue groups on the website of a serious landslide in Nara Prefecture that swept away a nationwide freeway Saturday night time have found a automobile buried underneath the rubble that’s suspected to belong to a lacking man in his 70s.

The landslide occurred in Shimokitayama Village, the place mud and particles measuring 40 meters in peak and spanning 20 to 30 meters in width coated National Route 169.

The aged man, presumed to have been touring on the affected route, has been unreachable for the reason that catastrophe struck on Dec 23.

Fire division officers confirmed the sighting of a portion of the automobile beneath the particles.

Given the precarious nature of the landslide space and the potential for additional erosion, unmanned heavy equipment has been deployed to hold on with the duty of clearing the rubble.
