TOKYO, March 27 (Xinhua) — Three folks have been killed and a number of other injured with one in important situation following a five-vehicle collision on an expressway in Mie Prefecture, central Japan, native media and police officers stated on Monday.
According to native police, the accident occurred at 2:30 a.m. native time on Monday, on the four-lane Higashi-Meihan Expressway in Kameyama, Mie Prefecture, and concerned a collision between a midsize truck and a minivan.
A big truck then reportedly hit smaller autos and the central divider, and the truck’s cargo of plastic bottles have been spilled onto the highway. This brought on a minicar touring in the wrong way on the outbound lane to return to an abrupt halt, resulting in a passenger automobile unavoidably ramming it at pace from behind, in accordance with the native police and media.
Eight folks have been rushed to the hospital following first responders’ arrival on the scene, with the 53-year-old driver of the midsize truck and the couple within the passenger automobile, each of their 80s, killed within the crash.
Four others have been injured within the collision. The feminine driver of the minivan in her 20s was unconscious and remained in important situation, in accordance with medics and native police.
The five-vehicle, multi-lane crash on the expressway brought on the foremost arterial path to be closed partly for eight hours, native media stated.
