TOKYO, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 struck the Torishima Island area in southern Japan on Tuesday, the nation’s climate company stated.
The quake, which passed off at 5:32 p.m. native time, was centered within the adjoining sea of Torishima Islands, measuring 2 on the Japanese seismic depth scale of seven, in accordance with the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The epicenter was positioned at a depth of 420 km at a latitude of 31.4 levels north and a longitude of 138.7 levels east.
There was no tsunami warning issued because of this temblor, the JMA added.
