Baseball’s WBC = World Baseball Classic has finished the quarterfinals, and Japan, Mexico, Cuba, and the United States advanced to the top four.
When I asked journalists who have covered the major leagues in the United States for many years, many of them predicted that Japan would win the championship.
Of these, John Morosi, a reporter for the MLB Network, a television program run by major league organizations and others, said, “Japan is the most well-balanced team in this tournament. I expected Japan to win from the beginning. But that hasn’t changed even now. Japan has power and technology, and I can’t see any flaws. It’s really fun to see a team like that.”
Regarding Mexico, where Japan will play in the semifinals, he analyzed, “The pitchers in the starting rotation are as high as Japan.” I think we’ve caught up with them. We’ve shown how much baseball talent there is in the world.”
