Tourists Flock to Hokkaido for Lunar New Year

HOKKAIDO, Jan 30 (News On Japan) –
Hokkaido is taking steps to deal with overtourism points as massive numbers of overseas guests arrive throughout the Lunar New Year vacation.

In Biei, a preferred vacationer vacation spot in Kamikawa, authorities have carried out parking restrictions across the well-known “Christmas Tree” photograph spot. Due to frequent site visitors congestion brought on by roadside parking, native police have designated a 300-meter stretch of city street as a no-parking zone from January 30 to February 21.

“We want visitors to enjoy themselves without obstructing traffic or taking photos in the middle of the road,” mentioned Hiroki Naruse of Biei’s Commerce and Tourism Department.

Meanwhile, in Noboribetsu, a pilot mission known as the “Off-Airport Check-in Counter” is being launched. This service permits vacationers utilizing New Chitose Airport to verify of their baggage upfront and retrieve it at their vacation spot airport.

The initiative is available in response to complaints about massive vacationer baggage inflicting delays in public transportation round Noboribetsu. The pilot program will run from February 4 to eight.
