Ski resort in central Japan on alert after wild boar assaults snowboarders

Niigata, Feb 09 (NHK) –
A ski resort in Niigata Prefecture, central Japan, is urging guests to take precautions after two snowboarders have been attacked by a wild boar. No one was injured.

The incident was reported on Tuesday morning on the Alpen Blick Snow Resort in Myoko City. Videos present a boar hitting one of many snowboarders from behind after which dashing to the opposite man, who makes use of his board to defend himself.

Resort officers and police say the animal was about 1-meter lengthy. They say the boar fled when employees sounded a snowmobile siren.

Resort supervisor Hazawa Kazuhiko says he was shocked as a wild boar has by no means appeared on the slope earlier than. He says the resort will enhance patrols and take different precautions.
