Roundup: Montreux Jazz Festival China concludes its 2nd version in Suzhou

SUZHOU, China, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) — The second version of the Montreux Jazz Festival China got here to a profitable shut on Monday, with worldwide and Chinese artists and audiences celebrating the common language of music and constructing extra bridges between East and West.

On the shores of Yangcheng Lake close to the Chinese metropolis of Suzhou, throughout China’s National Day “golden week” vacation, the Montreux Jazz Festival China attracted 1000’s of music lovers from throughout China and musicians from around the globe.

“We invited 140 international musicians from more than 30 countries and brought almost 40 concerts to the Chinese and international audiences,” CEO of the pageant Joyce Peng Peng advised Xinhua.

“It’s a beautiful landscape here at Yangcheng Lake, and we were very lucky with the weather.”

In 2021, the Montreux Jazz Festival traveled to China for the primary time, going down within the japanese metropolis of Hangzhou beneath the theme “Where East Meets West.”

“Where Legends Are Born” is the slogan of the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival, which was created in Switzerland in 1967 by Claude Nobs and takes place for 2 weeks each summer season.

“We had more than 1,000 people in the audience here every day. They came not only from Chinese cities but also from other countries. We had visitors from South Africa, Switzerland and the United States. We also organized several corporate events here,” Peng Peng mentioned. EXPANDING IN CHINA AND BEYOND

For over 50 years, the small Swiss city of Montreux has hosted iconic performances by many music legends.

Since the tip of the Seventies, the Montreux Jazz Festival has exported its savoir-faire heritage and ambiance to numerous cities worldwide, with editions in Sao Paulo, Detroit, Atlanta, Singapore, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.

“We have a strong message we want to bring to our audience,” Peng Peng mentioned. “We act like a bridge to connect East and West. The festival is originally from Switzerland, but it has now landed in China in a very successful way.”

Peng Peng mentioned the pageant hopes to broaden to extra Chinese cities.

“We also want to invite more great international musicians to come to China and bring young emerging Chinese artists out to the world and our mother festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland,” she mentioned.
