WASHINGTON DC, Feb 10 (News On Japan) –
Confusion arose throughout a joint press convention following the U.S.-Japan summit on February seventh when former President Donald Trump mistakenly referred to Nippon Steel as “Nissan” thrice whereas discussing the corporate’s deliberate acquisition of U.S. Steel. His remarks led to temporary hypothesis about whether or not struggling automaker Nissan was investing within the American metal large.

According to Reuters, the White House later issued a correction.

Trump, talking about Nippon Steel’s bid for U.S. Steel, acknowledged, “Nissan is doing something very exciting,” and added, “I’m meeting with Nissan next week. I’ll be meeting with Nissan’s top executive. It’s a great company.” The error probably stemmed from his prior point out of Toyota, resulting in a mix-up between Nissan and Nippon Steel, each Japanese corporations.
