New Zealand's Rotorua Marathon held in rain

ROTORUA, New Zealand, May 6 (Xinhua) — More than 4,000 runners pounded the picturesque tracks round Rotorua Lake in rain on Saturday within the 59th version of Rotorua Marathon, one of many oldest sporting occasions in New Zealand.

Tokyo Olympian Auckland-based Malcolm Hicks gained the lads’s full marathon in two hours 21 minutes and 49 seconds.

Tauranga-based Alice Mason earned a record-equalling fourth victory within the ladies’s race in 2:54:30, simply 9 months after giving start to her child.
