LAUSANNE, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) — Road bike owner Masomah Ali Zada was named Chef de Mission for the Refugee Olympic Team Paris 2024 following a call by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board on Monday.
Ali Zada, 27, competed in highway biking as a member of the Refugee Olympic Team Tokyo 2020. She can also be a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission.
Bernadette Castel-Hollingsworth, deputy director of the Division of International Protection on the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, was named as Deputy Chef de Mission.
Ali Zada was a member of the Afghan girls’s nationwide biking workforce. She turned a refugee in 2017 and claimed asylum in France. She is now learning civil engineering on the University of Lille.
