Jetstar Japan strike continues over unpaid wages

TOKYO, Dec 28 (News On Japan) –
The labor union of funds airline Jetstar Japan continues its strike over unpaid wages, threatening to spill into the New Year vacation season as negotiations with the corporate break down.

The Jetstar Crew Association, a labor union comprising pilots and cabin crew of Jetstar Japan, has been putting since December 22, refusing to work resulting from unpaid wages.

The union carried out collective bargaining with the corporate on December 27, however determined to proceed the strike, stating that there was “no progress in response to their demands.”

The strike is scheduled to proceed as initially deliberate till January 7.

As the year-end peak looms, about 36 of the 100 taking part members – the best quantity to this point – are anticipated to strike on December 29.

Jetstar Japan has defined that the six flights canceled up to now have been resulting from “sickness and strike effects.”

As no compromise was reached within the discussions with the union, the corporate plans to request mediation from the Central Labor Relations Commission, a nationwide company that intervenes in labor disputes, on December 28.

The firm commented, “We will continue to make adjustments as much as possible, but in case of flight cancellations, we will notify via our website,” elevating issues in regards to the affect on flight operations.
