Japan PM expresses concern over U.S. withdrawal from WHO

TOKYO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) — Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday expressed concern over the United States’ resolution to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO), Jiji Press reported.

“The U.S. has played a crucial role in global health. From Japan’s perspective, we do not welcome any move that weakens this role,” Ishiba acknowledged throughout a parliamentary finances committee assembly.

On Jan. 20, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an government order on his first day in workplace, asserting the nation’s withdrawal from the WHO.
