TOKYO, 18th March, 2023 (WAM) — Egg costs are hovering in Japan as the present avian flu season sees a file 16 million birds marked for culling, with at the very least 80 instances reported at poultry companies in 26 of the nation’s 47 prefectures.
Kyodo News quoted the Japanese agriculture ministry as saying that egg-laying hens make up greater than 90 % of birds within the means of being culled, limiting the availability of eggs and pushing costs larger.
