HOKKAIDO, Jul 21 (News On Japan) –
To deal with the rising subject of overtourism, authorities in Biei, Hokkaido, have banned parking across the scenic “Seven Stars Tree” for one month beginning July 18th.
Despite cloudy skies and a weekday schedule, massive crowds of vacationers continued to collect close to the favored picture spot on July 18th. Some international guests have been even seen posing for photos in the midst of the street.
This time of 12 months coincides with the wheat harvest in Biei, and parked vacationer autos have been obstructing the passage of agricultural equipment, elevating considerations amongst native farmers.
In response to requests from the city, police launched parking restrictions in 2024. The newest measures cowl two segments of city roads—totaling about one kilometer—centered across the Seven Stars Tree. The no-parking order will stay in impact via August fifteenth.
