If you stroll across the streets of Kyoto or Osaka, you will note the phrase “conger pike conger” within the “recommended” part of eating places.
Conger eel is strongly related to Kyoto’s “Gion Festival” and Osaka’s “Tenjin Festival”, and might be mentioned to be an indispensable ingredient in summer season within the Kansai area.
But why is it in Kyoto and Osaka, and why is it “pike conger” in “summer”?
