The G7 = overseas ministers’ assembly of seven main nations held in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, ended, calling for the rapid withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, and an try to unilaterally change the established order by China’s energy and coercion. They issued a joint assertion that included their sturdy opposition.
At a press convention, Minister for Foreign Affairs Hayashi, who chaired the assembly, stated, “I am very pleased that we were able to have frank and in-depth discussions with the G7 foreign ministers, and that we were able to issue a joint statement as a result of the meeting. We also held detailed discussions on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, bearing in mind that this year’s summit will be held in Hiroshima.”
On prime of that, he stated, “For the first time, the G7 has issued a document stating that it strongly opposes Japan’s involvement in a free and open international order based on the rule of law, which Japan attaches great importance to, and unilateral attempts to change the status quo anywhere in the world. I was able to confirm it in a tangible way. I would like to work together toward the Hiroshima Summit to address pressing issues faced by the international community.”
