China hopes the Japanese aspect can correctly deal with the difficulty of the discharge of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated wastewater into sea, a Chinese international ministry spokesperson mentioned on Monday.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at an everyday press convention in response to a query that when the expert-level talks can be held to handle China’s ban on Japanese seafood.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had mentioned China has agreed to carry expert-level talks geared toward resolving China’s ban on seafood from Japan.
“We hope the Japanese side can work with China to properly handle the issue of the release of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated wastewater in a constructive way,” Mao mentioned.
“China’s position against the discharge of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated wastewater is consistent and clear-cut,” mentioned Mao, including that “China and other relevant parties have taken some necessary measures, which are fully justified and necessary.”
China suspended the imports of all aquatic merchandise originating from Japan in August to forestall dangers from Japan’s discharge of nuclear-contaminated wastewater.
