TOKYO, May 15 (Xinhua) — Japanese police arrested a girl on Monday after she approached the United States Consulate General in Okinawa and mentioned she was carrying a gunpowder-like substance, native media reported.
Police officers seized an iron pipe that the girl was holding, suspected to be full of gunpowder, and arrested the 44-year-old resident within the southern island prefecture on suspicion of obstructing official duties, Kyodo News mentioned.
The police are investigating her motivations in approaching the U.S. Consulate General Naha within the prefecture’s Urasoe metropolis, the report mentioned.
No accidents had been reported from the incident which prompted the police to briefly limit site visitors within the space, it added.
