Following the fare revision, a labor union representing taxi drivers within the prefecture and different teams held a news convention calling for the proportion of working income paid to drivers to be raised from its present degree to at the least 60%.
Teruaki Anai, chairman of the Okinawa Prefectural Federation of Trade Unions, mentioned the issue is that fare will increase haven’t been sufficiently handed on to employees.
“The fares have gone up, but the money is not reaching the workers,” Anai mentioned. “We need a system that ensures workers properly receive the money they earn.”
The union submitted a request in June to the Okinawa Labor Bureau and different authorities, asking them to encourage taxi firms to enhance working situations.
An explanatory assembly for taxi employees on the fare revision is scheduled to be held in Haebaru on August 23, with the union calling for sturdy participation.
