Netflix says its place on cope with Warner Bros Discovery unchanged

Dec 15 : Netflix’s determination to amass property from Warner Bros Discovery has not modified, its co-CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos stated in a letter to workers on Monday.

The streaming big gained Warner Bros’ vote earlier this month, securing a $72 billion fairness deal for its TV, movie studios and streaming property earlier than Paramount launched a hostile $108.4 billion enterprise bid for the entire firm.

Netflix is dedicated to theatrical releases of Warner Bros’ films, saying it’s “an important part of their business and legacy”.

“We haven’t prioritized theatrical in the past because that wasn’t our business at Netflix. When this deal closes, we will be in that business,” the letter stated, including {that a} hostile bid from Paramount Skydance was “entirely expected”.

Despite rising considerations of heavy regulatory scrutiny, Netflix is assured it should get the approvals, counting on its argument that the deal is critical to compete with the dominance of YouTube.

But attorneys say the Justice Department is unlikely to see Netflix and YouTube as interchangeable rivals, given their completely different content material, audiences and enterprise fashions.

“Even after combining with Warner Bros, our view share would only move from 8 per cent to 9 per cent in the US—still well behind YouTube (13 per cent) and a potential Paramount/WBD combination (14 per cent),” Netflix’s letter stated.

The firm stated the deal is not going to lead to studio closures amid fears of job losses because of the rise of synthetic intelligence. Paramount too had stated it doesn’t intend to chop content material budgets and goals to run each studio items individually.
